British MP resigns after admitting to watching pornographic footage twice in Parliament
British MP Neil Parish, whose Conservative Party has dropped Prime Minister Boris Johnson, announced his resignation from parliament on Saturday after admitting he had seen pornographic footage twice on his phone in the House of Commons "in a moment of madness."
Parrish resigned on Saturday, having previously said he would remain a member of parliament while the incident was under investigation.
"In the end, I can see that it is inappropriate to continue with the uproar and the harm I cause to my family and to the electorate in my constituency," Parish said in an interview with the BBC on Saturday.
A parish, a farmer, said the first time he saw the scandalous footage was a coincidence when he was looking for information about tractors on a similarly named website and that at the time he "saw it for a moment, which I should have done."
"But my crime, the biggest crime, was that I came in again and the entry was deliberate, and I was sitting waiting for the ballot on the side of the hall," he said.
Asked what was on his mind at the time, he described it as a "moment of madness".
A few days ago, British media reported that a minister said she had seen a colleague watching pornographic footage sitting next to her in the House of Commons chamber and that the same MP had seen pornographic footage during a debate on a House committee.
