Trump breaks silence on his own platform and writes "I'm back"
Former U.S. President Donald Trump posted an SMS on Truth Social late Thursday evening, for the first time since the launch of the app he founded two months ago, writing the words "I'm back!"
Trump broke the silence after billionaire Elon Musk struck a $44 billion.
The deal to buy Twitter, an app that permanently banned Trump's account last year, attributing it to the risk of further violence after a crowd of Trump supporters blocked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Republicans welcomed Musk's acquisition of the social media platform in the hope that Tesla's CEO would invite Trump back to the site, after Musk pledged to ease content modification practices to restore freedom of expression.
With the deal announced this week, Trump said he would not return to Twitter.
Trump's silence on his own app, since its launch on the Apple App Store on February 21, has raised questions about its long-term viability.
