Russian ruble jumps to two-year high against dollar and euro
The Russian ruble jumped Wednesday to its highest level in more than two years against the US dollar and the euro, retaining support from strict capital restrictions.
This comes at a time when the EUROPEAN Union has proposed a new package of sanctions against Russia for its war in Ukraine.
The ruble ended the trading session up 6.6 percent against the dollar at 66.30, its strongest level since March 2020.
It climbed 5.8 percent against the euro to 70.44, after earlier touching 69.80, its highest level since February 2020.
